→ HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR PAID CAMPAIGN RATES: This HQ of resources from Social Currant is easy breezy to use when crafting your rate sheet. The resource includes details on each rate calculator, from costs associated to beneficial features.
→ HOW TO INCREASE YOUR LINKEDIN POST REACH: If you’ve noticed a drop in your LinkedIn engagement, you’re not alone – it’s as this author puts it “the result of LinkedIn being a bit of a victim to its own success.” That said, the platform is still booming, and these tips n’ tricks from the co-founder of CSuite Content, Caroline Carter-Smith, can help get your content above the fray and in the hands of your target audience.
→ HOW TO ANALYZE THREADS POST ENGAGEMENT: As Threads continues to grow, there are some stats to know when approaching the platform. First on the list provided by Buffer are the stats sharing who is on Threads, when they’re on and scrolling, and all that jazz, so that when you hit post it actually goes somewhere. Second, however, are the stats that are key to understanding a post’s success, which naturally helps guide whether a format, a topic, and so on is worth a rinse repeat.

PLATFORM UPDATES
New capabilities loading…
→ THREADS: A new feature has landed on the platform called Ghost Posts. Taking after Instagram Stories or even Snapchat, the feature allows creators to share a post with a time limit of 24 hours on the feed. Then for a second layer, responders to the post will have their messages sent to the DMs of the post’s creator; none of the post’s responses or likes are viewable to the public with Ghost Posts. Realistically, if your goal is to increase engagement in your DMs, this new capability may be a lukewarm W. If you’re looking to grow your library or portfolio of thought leadership-style commentary, it’s more of a wash.
→ INSTAGRAM: The platform finally put something in chronological order, and it's via a new feature that enables users to go through their Reels Watch History. Whether you’re circling back to simply re-watch and enjoy a video, or looking back for inspo, info, or to share with a friend that would enjoy a Reel that you’d seen, Watch History lets you sort by a specific date, date range, by author, and both chronological and reverse chronological order. Additionally, users can remove a Reel from their Watch History should it fit their fancy.
→ TIKTOK: This new feature is giving QVC – and it’s TikTok’s Visual Search Tags Feature. In short, TikTok’s using AI to detect objects in a video and “help” users find similar, whether that’s a purchasable item or a similar video; although as a selected creator for testing this feature, I can confidently say that the emphasis is on the “similar item that you can buy in-app” element. If you want to opt out, run it back with these instructions.
→ YOUTUBE: The video platform has added a new time management tool, where scrollers of Shorts are able to put a limit on the time they can scroll with a quick move in the Settings tab of the Shorts app. Similar to other time management tools, for those that use it, a pop-up makes its way to the screen when that time limit has been reached, notifying the user. It’s up to the user then whether to stick to the limit or do what one does with their morning alarm, and hit ignore.

MEET KHIANA BROWN: Khiana Brown creates authentic lifestyle content that highlights the real, relatable side of motherhood. Khiana focuses on sharing relatable experiences, and resources that make everyday life easier as a mom. Her goal is to inspire and connect with moms by showing practical ways to balance family, fun, and functionality, while spotlighting things that truly help along the way.
What's something you wish someone told you before starting to make content?
“Never allow it to feel like work because that’s when you will lose your joy. I’ve been doing this for almost seven years and around the fourth year mark I found myself treating this so much like a job that I hated doing it. When I got my spark back I realized it was because I was allowing it to become a job. From that realization I decided I’m going to be myself unapologetically, because your platform is your voice! So never allow people or the things around you to make your voice change tones!”
Why is making political content so important to you?
“Because I realized even before social media was as big as it is now, that women and younger females were looking up to me and found my story and conversations as an inspiration. That’s when I knew people were watching and I’m influencing so I have to influence the right things. I have to stand up for those listening and looking. I have to educate those paying attention in ways I know they’ll understand. Everyone deserves to have the knowledge of what’s to come, what resources are at hand and what they can do to help in their community. It’s about meeting people where they are and not trying to confuse people of their rights or knowledge of the world with big fancy words. I want to educate in ways that are understandable, relatable, and authentic!”
What would you really like to see evolve in the political content space in the coming months?
“Less negativity and more speaking facts! More voices from everyday people who are actually affected by the everyday worldly changes, and not those making changes not knowing how it’ll affect the community. This is why I use my voice. I live through the changes that are made and I see how they impact my life. My voice has to be as strong as the ink they use to sign off on these changes.”
When thinking of a dream content collab, what would it be? Who would it be with?
“I don’t even know if this would be possible, but to be a part of a TED talk. My biggest dream before being a content creator was to be a motivational speaker. I’ve touched so many lives and seen so many girls and women change their path of life because of simple conversations. My story wasn’t meant to break me, it was meant to be a testimony for someone else's breakthrough.”
What drew you to the niche that you’re in?
“Being a single mom I knew this wasn’t just a part of my story that was meant to be there. I woke up one day and realized I have to show and tell single moms, well moms in general, that we’re going to get through certain situations. I love showing how I get through motherhood. The answer to all the days of me saying “why me?” was answered when I became a content creator. There’s so many resources I wish I knew about but didn’t know where to find. There’s so many times I wish I had a mentor but didn’t know where to look. I wish I saw someone going through what I went through to know that I wasn’t alone. I want to be the person I was looking for when I didn’t know where to look.”
How do you balance online versus offline time?
“Learning that it’s okay to not get caught up in the “post a million times a day” idea (more like 3-5x). Post genuine content that takes thought will always be cherished a little more than just posting to post. Sometimes I want to live in the moment and not record, enjoy family time or simply just pray and have time with God. Having a great balance allows this career to not become overwhelming.”
